Dr. Pengyong Hoo
Universiti Perlis Malaysia (UniMAP), Malaysia
Dr. Hoo Peng Yong, known as Arthur, is a Senior
Lecturer at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering & Technology,
Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical
Engineering (2016) and a B.Eng. (Honours) in Chemical Engineering
(2012), both from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Dr. Hoo's research
focuses on developing and designing mesoporous catalysts and
materials, optimizing catalyst synthesis, and studying the kinetics
and mechanisms of catalysis systems. His work also includes research
on membrane fouling mechanisms, biomass-based adsorbents, and
adsorption processes.
Dr. Hoo has been recognized for his innovative research and has
received numerous awards at international conferences, exhibitions,
and competitions. Notably, he received the Special Award for Best
Invention in Environmental Innovation at the 34th International
Invention, Innovation & Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2023), along
with multiple gold and silver medals at various national and
international exhibitions. He holds several copyrights for his work,
including the enhanced alkaline earth silicate of rice husk ash for
free fatty acid extraction and a novel magneto-hybrid
polyoxometalate composite membrane. Additionally, Dr. Hoo has
published extensively in high-impact journals, such as the Chemical
Engineering Journal and Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research.
His international collaborations with researchers from Japan,
Thailand, and Indonesia further enhance the global impact of his
work. Dr. Hoo's dedication to staying connected and conducting
impactful research showcases his commitment to the field, and he
feels fortunate to inspire others in chemical engineering and
technology-related fields.
